About

Hi, I’m Jetset Wanderlust aka Kirstin O’Brien.

I’m a New Zealander with a love of beautiful things.

Dance & music were an integral part of my childhood. Fulfilling my love of arts I studied English and classical literature at the University of Canterbury and I currently enjoy studying my passion topics such as diamonds & gemstones (studying through the Gemological Institute of America), languages (through reading and watching foreign films), ballet, photography and writing.

In a quest for cultural knowledge I embarked on a career in the Wine Industry for over 15 years (hic!), studying Wine Marketing through the University of Adelaide and representing many New Zealand and European Wine, Champagne and Port houses. Some of my travels were centered around visiting these wineries as an honoured guest: Champagne Taittinger, Pol Roger and Veuve Clicquot in Reims and Épernay; Louis Jadot in Beaune; Château des Jacques in Beaujolais; the Vineyard and Olive grove of Rocca della Macie in Tuscany and Cálem Port in Porto.

For the last fifteen years I have been adding sparkle as co-Director of TORY & KO. Jewellers with my talented fine jewellery designer & business partner, Victoria Taylor. We have visited jewellery trade fairs in Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore and work with clients all over the world creating exquisite and bespoke fine jewellery pieces.

Fine wine & fine jewellery: you could say I like traditions, old & new!

My love of travel has always been strong which has begun my side interest in travel writing…

Luckily my architect husband ‘Mr. M’ and our daughter ‘Miss S’ also love to travel so we spend as much time travelling as we can. Most of my wanderlust centers around food, wine, architecture, dance, fashion and fragrance, but I am also drawn to anything sparkly: seeking inspiration from art and jewellery wherever I go. Each year I embark on a few personal adventures and at least one jewellery trade show draws me to a foreign country.

This is where I share some of my travel highlights and published articles with you. I’ll also be sharing some of my favourite novels and tips for travel over the next few years. Watch this space!
